I learned that the "Microcosmographia Academica" is correct. This was an old pamphlet on university politics. The relevant section is about "Dangerous Precedents" which goes to show that "Nothing should ever be done for the first time"

We are supposed to use some CRM system to document various things that we do. Well, no one on our team does it. So I mentioned to my boss that we should have a short workshop to go over doing these small things, so we can get started.

His boss is all upset that the meeting is called because they are working on something in the same system, but don't want to have two meetings (or something). My point is that since we are supposed to do it per company policy, we should help people know to do what they can now and then enforce it, as opposed to waiting for everything to be perfect and then doing it.

"Translation: If we do things right this time, we might have to do them right next time"

Also, it would mean that he would have to admit that I am right. That is his biggest stumbling block in the whole matter.
